FAQ: What is the difference between a "follower" and a "member"?

This is a great question. There is a lot of ambiguity around these terms because each major blogging or social media site uses slightly different terminology.

Generally speaking, terms like member, follower, reader, subscriber, and friend mean the same thing. These terms are used interchangeably as a label for a person who can view your content.

Blogging sites like blogger and wordpress, as well as social media sites like facebook and twitter, offer you many options for how you share your content and with whom it is shared. These settings are usually found under tabs like "account settings", "settings", "privacy", etc.

It is a good idea to periodically review such settings for the blogging and social media sites which you currently use. Sites often update and change their structure and offerings, so regularly checking who can see your content will ensure your privacy is always maintained.
